Weekend March 4-6 STANSBURY ISLAND PETROGLYPHS with Buddy and MoZ and A LOT of guns!

Hi all!  It's my first blog post...decided I needed to start sharing more of my wonderful life adventures since you're all always asking me "where, what, how, why, when...."
It wasn't easy to find out where these beautiful glyphs are. Another blog, google maps, a random comment but I decided to head out Friday afternoon in MoZ the wonder RV and Buddy, my wonderful, brave 12 year old golden retriever and see what we could find.
The basic instructions to the site were...ok. Here's mine: 2nd Grantsville exit onto Stansbury Island road.  Take the right split at the sign. Take the FIRST left to cross the creek, head east past the shooting range. Take the HORRIBLE little track road east till you get to the NO TRESPASSING sign. Park. Breathe. Look around. Trespass.   Walk down the little road, DON'T take the left fork. Walk a mile-ish til you see a cave up on the hill on the left.  I read the glyphs were below the cave but I only found one.  Thank goodness I spotted the faint foot track up left around the cave.  And there they are.  About 300 beautiful Fremont glyphs (and some vandalism. UGH!). Many happy hours ensued.
We (the Budster and moi) walked out Friday eve, then again early Saturday and found even more.  When we got back Saturday around 8 to MoZ there were already about 6 gun shooters firing away.  Needed to move.
Headed to the trailhead/shooting range (why????) and parked in a corner where I hoped I wouldn't get shot. Followed the dirt road/trailhead up the mountain til it connected with the Stansbury Island bike trail but I wanted to go all the way up.  Took about an hour and the view was amazing.  Came back down and listened to the nonstop pop of AK47s (WHY?????).  They all finally cleared out and it was just me and the cows and calves and a lovely sunset.
Storm started coming in at 3am so we wobbled on out to the road and headed home.  Glad I did.  Snowed hard!
PLEASE respect these amazing petroglyphs AND the private property they are on.  Have fun.
